The Alte Kameraden Band is a non-union, unpaid, group of music professionals and enthusiasts who perform across a broad area as often as possible in the tradition of Red Lodge bands that date back to 1896. Since then, our music collection has grown dramatically and we play a great variety of music.

The Alte Kameraden Band of Red Lodge performed four times during the National-Folk-Festival-(22)1National Folk Festival in Butte, Montana. Our selection to perform at this event of national distinction is a milestone. During the weekend performances, ours was the only group from Montana.

At nearly 30 players, ours was also be the largest group. More than 160,000 people attended the festival. (Photo above: the band prepares for its final performance in Butte.

After 40 years east of the Mississippi, the National Folk Festival kicked off a three-year run in Montana on July 2008. The 2008 event was a huge success, a signature Montana event and an exciting addition to the summer schedule for thousands of visitors to Southwest Montana.Kameraden-Oktoberfest-for-w

Oktoberfest season is a highlight for the band. This year we performed at the Red Lodge Oktoberfest and were very well received. We played, and were well received, at the Bozeman Oktoberfest on October 1, and the Townsend Harvpowell-bandestfest the next day.

We play every Saturday morning through the summer on Broadway (the main street) in Red Lodge.

The band performed a variety of music for more than two hours, including original scores from the famous Buffalo Bill Wild West Show.

On another occasion, we entertained a crowd  in Asst-labre-schoolhland, Montana in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the St. Labre School.

We were especially honored to have been invited to perform at the school, since it is a progressive institution that has done much for the Native American people of the area.

On Father’s Day, we performed at a private function in Fishtail, Montana. Once again, “Live at the Barn” was a terrific success. The band sounded great.
